Sniffer Standardization
The object of these services is to help a customer who has purchased
Sniffer and Distributed Sniffer products over the years and now
has many different software and hardware platform levels. Our goal
is
to provide the customer with a much more manageable, effective
tools environment, which will provide a better return on the large
investment
they have in Sniffer products.
Evaluate Current Sniffer Environment
- Determine current existing versions of Agent and Console
Sniffer software.
- Determine current Distributed Sniffer Operating system platform.
- (Builds and Service Packs)
- Determine existing hardware platforms and memory.
- Determine and document system settings
- Determine usability issues with installed Sniffer products.
Determine required availability upgrade path:
- Existing Equipment
- Software (Sniffer and Operating System)
- Hardware
- Replacement Equipment
- Plan and Schedule project timeline
- Transition plan
- Installation schedule
Perform Updates and Upgrades
- Create Distributed Sniffer Images (Includes OS upgrades and
patches)
- Install required Distributed Sniffer memory upgrades
- Check and Update System BIOS
- Re-Image Sniffer Systems
- Reconfigure Sniffer Interfaces
- Test functionality of updated Sniffer systems
- Upgrade Console Software on core Sniffer user systems
Standardize NT environment
- WINS Domain names
- Workstation names
- TCP/IP parameters (gateway, DNS entries, etc.)
- Administrator Passwords
- User Accounts
